Job Overview

We are looking for a tech co-founder to become our Technical Lead CTO (Chief Technology Officer) and our first technology go-to expert. It is important that you can balance the right amount of lead architect, developer, solution architect, DevOps, engineering lead, team lead, and business driver. The weighting on responsibilities is heavily focused on the actual technical output of the company and making decisions in the best interests of the company on technical matters.

Communication skills are vitally important; to deliver direction, understand real problems, and identify solutions with a clear understanding of the risks attached. Such things may need to be communicated to the internal engineering teams, to a board, or to other fellow colleagues.
As a CTO, you will play an integral role in setting the company’s strategic direction, development, and future growth. In this position, you will oversee our overall technology development and technology utilization plan and manage all information technology resources of our company.

Responsibilities

Lead the strategy for technology platforms, partnerships and external relationships
Represent the technological agenda in staff meetings and when making hiring decisions
Identify, compare, select and implement technology solutions to meet current and future needs
Develop, track and control the development of annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations
Manage and optimize infrastructure assets to satisfy internal financial targets
Create overall technology standards and practices and ensure adherence
Track, analyze, and monitor technology performance metrics
Oversee all system design and changes in system architecture
Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape
Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity
Work closely with Marketing, Business Development and Operations to define and deliver new products and enhancements

Requirements

Hands-on, coding daily.
5+ years of engineering experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
3-5 years experience with established development processes (e.g. code reviews, pattern libraries, distributed version control, unit testing, frontend build systems, etc.).
2-3 years of experience integrating with enterprise technologies (CMS / Commerce systems, 1st and 3rd party APIs, Analytics, Tag Management etc.)
Commonly integrates with REST APIs and data exchange protocols like GraphQL, JSON, and XML
Backend Development experience with Java (Spring framework) or NodeJS is required and the following are preferred: Golang, Python, PHP
Understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git as well as code versioning philosophies such as Git-Flow
Experience with cyber awareness (e.g., phishing emails, cyber training)
Understand relational databases and web database storage. Experience in designing, understanding, and manipulating database queries
Experience building and designing Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) or front end web applications
Strong knowledge of testing principles
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent industry experience
Experience in conducting peer code reviews, understanding and implementing standards
Experience with Agile methodology
